Spearfishing Insurance

Description

You must have spearfishing insurance to buy or transport a speargun in most areas of Spain. This insurance also covers accidents while practising the sport and is valid for one year. In Spanish, it’s called ‘licencia federativa’ (federation licence, i.e. insurance), which should not be confused with ‘licencia de pesca submarina’ (spearfishing licence).

The Canary Islands government doesn’t require spearfishing insurance to process their licences, but other parts, like the Balearics or Galicia, will ask for it when you apply for them.

We arrange your insurance through the Federación de Actividades Subacuáticas de la Comunidad Valenciana (FASCV).

This spearfishing insurance is valid for one year across Spain. For coverage outside Spain for up to 30 days, inform the federation before leaving and upon re-entry.

What does this personal accident policy cover?

The federation licence covers the following:

• Medical-Surgical and Sanatorial Assistance in accidents occurring in the national territory during 18 months
• Transfer or evacuation up to a maximum of €6,015
• Ransom, up to a maximum of €6,000 per claim
• Hyperbaric Chamber treatment for dysbaric accident Pharmaceutical Assistance in hospital regime
  Rehabilitation, by the HELVETIA Medical Services for 18 months from the accident Death due to a direct
  cause of a sports accident: €8,000
• Financial compensation for anatomical and functional losses ACCORDING TO SCALE
• Economic compensation for permanent disability, according to scale and up to a maximum of €20,000
• Medical-surgical-pharmaceutical assistance in accidents occurring abroad up to €16,000

(The insurer will fully pay the expenses derived from the emergency assistance or first aid during the 24 hours following the occurrence of the accident, regardless of who provides them. Afterwards, the aid will be provided by professionals appointed by the company)
