It’s getting harder to get inside the Spanish fishing licence offices lately, due to Covid. Authorities don’t want anyone to enter the building without an appointment. In the Canary Islands, where we are based, everyone wants to fish in the summer. Right now, if you phone the call centre, you will get an appointment to present the application in about two weeks. In certain offices, if tourists show up, they can be lenient, and let them in. The people at the fishing office are aware that they will only be on the islands for a week or two.
For all our licences issued by the Canary Islands government, the turnaround time has increased. We’re unable to get more appointments, although we will, eventually. In a couple of weeks, we will be able to deliver the boat fishing licence in the usual 48-72 hours.
Update 3rd August 2021: We’re back to our 48-72 delivery time, after getting appointments for almost every day of the month. Yippee!
